Ashton Court Trail Nova Trail Map

The Avon Timberland Trail is the first official mountain bike trail in the Forest of Avon built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers.

The first part of this signed route runs around the spectacular Ashton Court Estate where you can cycle through wonderful woodlands away from busy roads.

The mountain bike trail in Ashton Court is a great place for youngsters or inexperienced riders to have a go on the rough tracks because the route is not too technical - A new 'figure of eight' link has recently been constructed and signed in Ashton Court to create a separate circuit in the Estate (see map below).

More adventurous mountain bikers can follow the pink trail in 50-Acre Wood to test out their skills in more rugged terrain. Trail improvements are being planned in the Wood over the next year to improve some sections of track. A new 400m section of off-road track has already been created so that novices can complete a short circuit in 50-Acre Wood over relatively easy terrain and return to Ashton Court via Weir Lane.

The Avon Timberland Trail is extremely popular because it is the only mountain bike route that Bristolians can easily reach within a few minutes of their homes.

It’s popularity means that continuous work is needed to keep the paths in good condition. The Forest of Avon, Ashton Court Estate and Forestry Commission are working closely with local mountain bike clubs to improve the Avon Timberland Trail. This includes the newly formed Bristol Trails Group which is looking for enthusiastic bikers to help build local trails.

The Avon Timberland Trail is funded by Timberland UK and is also supported by Durnford Quarry (owned by Tarmac), which has been contributing stone to improve the route.
